Today, this work has a physical home. Thanks to a leadership gift from the 比尔 & 梅琳达·盖茨基金会 and additional support from the people of Washington state, Rosling Center will house the UW 全球卫生司, 健康计量十大正规赌平台平台所 & 评价 (IHME)，菲律宾十大网赌网站的部分地区 公共卫生学院 and the offices of the 人口健康倡议. With spaces for collaborative group work, 主动学习, offices and training for global partners and multidisciplinary work in 人口 健康 across the UW, Rosling Center will be a hub for addressing critical issues like poverty, 股本, 医疗访问, climate change and government policy.
The 汉斯·罗斯林中心 for Population Health stands on the land of the Coast Salish peoples — land that touches the shared waters of all tribes and bands within the Suquamish, tulallip和Muckleshoot国家.
In 2006, 汉斯·罗斯林 — a Swedish physician with decades of public 健康 experience — lit an inspirational spark in 比尔 Gates and Melinda French Gates, who shared his vision of improving lives around the world. 在电影, TED演讲和YouTube视频, Rosling brought 健康 data to life through captivating graphs, illustrations and presentations demonstrating how global 健康 was improving. The Gates family proposed naming the building after Rosling in honor of his rigorous analysis of the true state of the world and his passion for improving 健康, which spurred a long friendship with the physician and his family.

汉斯·罗斯林是谁?
After earning his medical degree from Sweden's Uppsala University in 1974, Rosling served as the sole doctor for 300,在莫桑比克北部，000人死亡. 在非洲的时候, Rosling discovered a previously unrecognized paralytic disease his research team named konzo and traced to improperly prepared cassava roots. 当他回到瑞典时, Rosling taught courses on 健康 systems in resource-poor settings and international 健康 at Uppsala University and the medical university Karolinska Institutet until his death in 2017.

Hans burst onto the international stage in 2006 with a widely acclaimed TED演讲 that has been viewed more than 14 million times, showing innovative animated data visualizations developed by Ola and Anna. Hans followed that success with several more TED演讲s, speaking engagements around the world and the bestselling book “Factfulness: Ten Reasons We’re Wrong 菲律宾十大网赌网站 the World — and Why Things Are Better Than You Think.” Published posthumously, “Factfulness” was co-authored with Ola and Anna. The 汉斯·罗斯林中心 for Population Health was made possible by a $210 million gift from the 比尔 & 梅琳达·盖茨基金会 in 2016 and $15 million in funding from the people of Washington state, as well as funding from the University.
The Gates Foundation’s support has been transformative in nearly every corner of the UW — including global 健康, 健康指标, 医学, 计算机科学, 法律, 教育, 信息访问和更多.
